In some embodiments, an imager is coupled to a sensor to measure one or more of a position or an orientation of a measurement or imaging beam of the imager while the imager acquires image data. A processor is configured to receive the image data and construct an image such as a 3D image in response to the image data and the sensor data. In some embodiments, the imager is configured to emit a beam of imaging energy, and movement of the imager is used to construct the image such as a 3D image. In some embodiments, movement that occurs during the acquisition of the image data allows a 3D image to be constructed without a scanner, which can decrease the complexity of the imaging apparatus. Alternatively or in combination, the imager may comprise a scanner or beam former, and the movement data can be used to improve image quality.
