Abstract
A feeder system has a reservoir holds feed, which is to be dispersed according to a desirable, preferred, animal, namely, a livestock animal (e.g., horse, cow, cattle, sheep, goats) and/or game animal (e.g., deer, elk, turkey). The feed contained in the reservoir is dispensed to at least one feed outlet chamber through a corresponding feed outlet in the housing. The inventive animal feeder system helps to prevent unscheduled feeding, water and/or moisture incursion, and access to feed by undesired animals. The present system further limits power draw, to improve deployment longevity of a feeder system, and offers a self-contained complete feeder system to prevent corrosion and unwanted disruption of electrical elements.
Claims20
A feeder system comprising:
- a lower hopper having an internal chamber accessible through a plurality of openings;
- a plurality of gates, each gate corresponding to one of the plurality of openings;
- and
- an actuator configured to move between and including a first position and a second position, the actuator being operatively mechanically coupled to all of the gates.
A feeder system configured to be operatively coupled to a preexisting reservoir, the feeder system comprising:
- a lower hopper configured to receive feed from the preexisting reservoir, the hopper comprising an internal chamber and one or more selectively positionable gates, an open position of the gates configured to allow a flow of feed from the internal chamber and out of the system and an at least partially closed position of the gates configured to interrupt flow of feed from the internal chamber and out of the system.
