System and Method for Assisting Users in Balancing Plants

A system for maintaining a plant, where each plant is in a container with growing medium, comprising:

• a processor;
• a storage medium;
• at least one sensor;
• at least one indicator;
• an input-output component in communication with the at least one sensor for inputting sensed values from the at least one sensor;
• a surface on which the container is positioned;
• a balance-determining module comprising computer-executable code embodied in the storage medium that causes the processor to input the sensed values and, from the sensed values,
• to determine a measure of imbalance of the plant, container and growing medium on the surface;
• to detect excessive imbalance as a function of the sensed values as indicating at least one of:
• weight distribution of the container on the surface and uneven water distribution in the growing medium in the container;
• to cause the at least one indicator to be activated to give an indication to a user of at least one of:
• a need to rebalance the container and to equalize water to the growing medium.
