Speaker array with adjustable hanging system

A speaker assembly comprising:

• a speaker enclosure;
• an adjustable hanger assembly coupled to the speaker enclosure, the adjustable hanger assembly comprising:
• a strut portion and
• a boom arm movably coupled to the strut portion, at least one of the strut portion or the boom arm having a connector engagement portion, wherein the boom arm is configured for movement relative to the strut portion between a plurality of angular positions including a raised position and a lowered position, and wherein movement of the boom arm relative to the strut portion changes the position of the connector engagement portion relative to the speaker enclosure;
• an adjustment plate coupled to the boom arm and having a plurality of registration holes corresponding to respective ones of the angular positions;
• and
• an auto-pin locking mechanism coupled to the strut portion adjacent to the adjustment plate, the auto-pin locking mechanism comprising:
• a locking pin movable between an extended position and a retracted position;
• and
• an actuator operatively coupled to the locking pin;
• wherein the locking pin is biased toward the extended position and is configured, when aligned with one of the registration holes during movement of the boom arm relative to the strut portion, to automatically enter the one of the registration holes to lock the boom arm in a corresponding one of the angular positions, and
• wherein actuation of the actuator causes the locking pin to move toward the retracted position and out of the one of the registration holes to permit repositioning of the boom arm relative to the strut, to change the position of the connector engagement portion relative to the speaker enclosure.

A speaker assembly comprising:

• a speaker enclosure;
• an adjustable hanger assembly coupled to the speaker enclosure, the adjustable hanger assembly comprising:
• a rear strut;
• and
• a boom arm mounted for pivoting movement relative to the rear strut among a plurality of angular positions;
• an adjustment plate coupled to a rear end portion of the boom arm for movement with the boom arm, the adjustment plate defining a plurality of registration holes spaced apart from one another along a path corresponding to the plurality of angular positions of the boom arm;
• and
• an auto-pin locking mechanism coupled to the rear strut adjacent to the adjustment plate, the auto-pin locking mechanism comprising:
• a housing;
• a locking pin supported by the housing for axial movement between an extended position and a retracted position;
• and
• an actuator movable relative to the housing and operatively coupled to the locking pin;
• wherein the actuator is configured to permit movement of the locking pin toward the retracted position to allow the boom arm to pivot relative to the rear strut;
• and
• wherein the auto-pin locking mechanism is configured such that, upon alignment of the locking pin with a selected one of the registration holes during movement of the boom arm, the locking pin automatically moves into the selected registration hole.

An auto-pin locking mechanism configured for use with a speaker assembly having an adjustable hanger assembly with a strut and a movable member that has a plurality of registration holes corresponding to respective angular positions of the movable member, the auto-pin locking mechanism comprising:

• a housing configured to be coupled to the strut adjacent to the movable member;
• a locking pin supported by the housing for movement between an extended position and a retracted position, the locking pin being configured, in the extended position, to extend into a selected one of the registration holes to releasably lock the movable member in a corresponding angular position relative to the strut, and, in the retracted position, to be withdrawn from the selected one of the registration holes to permit movement of the movable member relative to the strut;
• an actuator movably coupled to the housing and operatively coupled to the locking pin, the actuator being movable between:
• a pin-extend position corresponding to the locking pin being in or urged toward the extended position;
• and
• a pin-retract position corresponding to the locking pin being in or urged toward the retracted position;
• and
• a biasing member configured to urge the actuator toward the pin-extend position;
• wherein the auto-pin locking mechanism is configured such that, when the locking pin is aligned with one of the registration holes, the locking pin automatically enters the one of the registration holes to lock the movable member in the corresponding angular position.
