Abstract

An image display apparatus comprises a display, an audio output device, an interface to receive signal from an external sound output device, and a signal processing device to display a first image based on a first video signal from the sound output device and output a first sound to the audio output device based on a first audio signal from the sound output device, wherein in response to the external input mode being switched, the signal processing device is configured to display a second image, output a second sound to the audio output device based on the transition to the external input mode, and transmit a third audio signal or a mute signal to the sound output device. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce sense of discrepancy caused by other sounds from the sound output device or the settop device when the image display apparatus outputs sound.

Dependent claims

An image display apparatus comprising:

a display;
an audio output device configured to output sound;
an interface configured to receive signal from an external sound output device;
and
a signal processing device configured to display a first image on the display based on a first video signal received from the sound output device and output a first sound to the audio output device based on a first audio signal received from the sound output device,
wherein in response to the external input mode being switched, the signal processing device is configured to display a second image on the display based on a second image signal received based on the transition to the external input mode, output a second sound to the audio output device based on a second audio signal received based on the transition to the external input mode, and transmit a third audio signal or a mute signal to the sound output device.
