Electronic Devices and Corresponding Methods for Contextual Audio Routing Among Connected Devices

An electronic system, comprising:

• a communication device;
• a user interface;
• a memory;
• a microphone;
• and
• one or more processors operable with the communication device, the user interface, the memory, and the microphone;
• wherein, in response to the one or more processors causing the user interface to deliver content to an environment of the electronic system:
• the one or more processors use the microphones to monitor a sound profile of an environment of an electronic device;
• and
• in response to a vehicular companion electronic device in communication with the communication device requisitioning delivery of the content to the companion electronic device, determine whether the sound profile substantially matches a reference profile stored in the memory;
• and
• when the noise profile substantially matches the reference profile, deny requestion of the delivery of the content to the vehicular companion electronic device.

A method in an electronic device, the method comprising:

• monitoring, by one or more processors using one or more sensors of the electronic device, an environmental context of the electronic device while the one or more processors cause a delivery of content to an environment of the electronic device;
• detecting, by the one or more processors using a communication device, establishment of electronic communication by a vehicular companion electronic device capable of delivering the content to the environment with the communication device;
• determining, by the one or more processors, whether the environmental context falls within a predefined criterion;
• and
• when the environmental context falls within the predefined criterion, causing, by the one or more processors, the communication device to transfer delivery of the content to a user interface of the vehicular companion electronic device.
