Generating collectors for network resources

Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for generating collectors for monitoring network resources are shown. In an aspect, the method includes determining a type of a network resource based at least in part on an identifier corresponding to the network resource. The network resource may be or include a database. The method includes generating a collector based on the identifier corresponding to the network resource; configuring functionality of the collector for monitoring the network resource based on the type of the network resource; monitoring, by the one or more processors, the network resource via the collector; and initiating, by the one or more processors, an action in the network based at least in part on the monitoring. In addition to supporting methods for generating and configuring collectors, some example embodiments enable functionality to decommission collectors and network resources, conserving energy and computing resources.
