A computer program which, when run on a computer, causes the computer to carry out a method for determining an origin of indication information in a networked connection between a client device and a server comprising:

• receiving, at the server, the indication information of the client device;
• determining a client-server value based on a transmission time of a connection signal transmitted between the client device and the server;
• transmitting a tracing signal addressed to the indication information via a particular router in the networked connection between the client device and the server;
• determining a tracing value based on a transmission time of the tracing signal to the particular router;
• establishing whether the indication information originates from an intermediate connection in the networked connection or from the client device by comparing a difference value with a threshold value, the difference value being based on the client-server value and tracing value.

An information processing apparatus for determining an origin of indication information in a networked connection between a client device and a server comprising a memory and a processor connected to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to:

• receive, at the server, the indication information of the client device;
• determine a client-server value based on a transmission time of a connection signal transmitted between the client device and the server;
• transmit a tracing signal addressed to the indication information via a particular router in the networked connection between the client device and the server;
• determine a tracing value based on a transmission time of the tracing signal to the particular router;
• establish whether the indication information originates from an intermediate connection in the networked connection or from the client device by comparing a difference value with a threshold value, the difference value being based on the client-server value and tracing value.

A computer implemented method for determining origin of indication information in a networked connection between a client device and a server, comprising:

• receiving, at the server, the indication information of the client device;
• determining a client-server value based on a transmission time of a connection signal transmitted between the client device and the server;
• transmitting, by the server, a Packet Internet or Inter-Network Groper (PING) message in the networked connection addressed to the indication information;
• transmitting a tracing signal to a particular router in the networked connection between the client device and the server when an elapsed time for receiving PING response message is exceeded;
• determining a tracing value based on a transmission time of the tracing signal;
• establishing whether the indication information originates from an intermediate connection in the networked connection or from the client device by comparing a difference value with a threshold value, the difference value being based on the client-server value and tracing value.
