Method and apparatus for large-scale sector carrier assignment

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising computer program code which, when executed by a computer performs operations for assigning computing resources, provided by a plurality of electronic devices of a mobile network, to support a plurality of sector carriers of the mobile network comprising:

• acquiring information describing the plurality of sector carriers that includes one or both of an affinity constraint and an anti-affinity constraint between different sector carriers of pairs of the plurality of sector carriers;
• constructing, using the information describing the plurality of sector carriers, a distance matrix having values representing distances between different sector carriers of the plurality of sector carriers;
• and
• applying, using the distance matrix and information describing the computing resources, an iterative hierarchical clustering algorithm to the plurality of sector carriers to assign the plurality of sector carriers among the plurality of electronic devices.

An electronic device comprising:

• a machine-readable medium comprising computer program code;
• and
• one or more processors to execute the computer program code to perform operations for assigning computing resources, provided by a plurality of electronic devices of a mobile network, to support a plurality of sector carriers of the mobile network to:
• acquire information describing the plurality of sector carriers that includes one or both of an affinity constraint and an anti-affinity constraint between different sector carriers of pairs of the plurality of sector carriers;
• construct, using the information describing the plurality of sector carriers, a distance matrix having values representing distances between different sector carriers of the plurality of sector carriers;
• and
• apply, using the distance matrix and information describing the computing resources, an iterative hierarchical clustering algorithm to the plurality of sector carriers to assign the plurality of sector carriers among the plurality of electronic devices.
