Abstract

This application relates to the communication field, and discloses a communication method and apparatus. The method includes: A first network device sends a radio resource control (RRC) release message to a terminal device that joins a multicast session, where the RRC release message indicates that the terminal device is to be released to a non-connected state. The first network device sends indication information to a second network device, where the indication information indicates whether a multicast and broadcast radio bearer needs to be reconfigured for the terminal device. Based on the indication information, the second network device reconfigures the multicast and broadcast radio bearer for the terminal device, or does not reconfigure the multicast and broadcast radio bearer for the terminal device.

Dependent claims

A communication method, wherein the method is applied to a first network device, and the method comprises:

sending a radio resource control release message to a terminal device that joins a multicast session, wherein the radio resource control release message indicates that the terminal device is to be released to a non-connected state;
and
sending indication information to a second network device, wherein the indication information indicates whether a multicast and broadcast radio bearer needs to be reconfigured for the terminal device.

A communication method, wherein the method is applied to a second network device, and the method comprises:

receiving indication information from a first network device, wherein the indication information indicates whether a multicast and broadcast radio bearer needs to be reconfigured for a terminal device, and the terminal device joins a multicast session;
and
when the indication information indicates that the multicast and broadcast radio bearer needs to be reconfigured for the terminal device, sending a reconfigured multicast and broadcast radio bearer to the terminal device.

A communication method, wherein the method is applied to a terminal device, and the method comprises:

receiving a radio resource control release message from a first network device, wherein the radio resource control release message indicates that the terminal device is to be released to a non-connected state;
and
sending indication information to a second network device, wherein the indication information indicates whether a multicast and broadcast radio bearer needs to be reconfigured for the terminal device.
