Uplink timing advance loop management

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to determine that a plurality of timing advance loops are supported by a node;
• transmit, to the node, a configuration for measuring received reference signals;
• and
• receive, from the node, information relating to an evaluated indication of a predicted signal quality metric in relation to at least one of:
• another node or a further node.

A method, comprising:

• indicating, to another node, that a plurality of timing advance loops are supported;
• receiving, from the another node, a configuration for measuring received reference signals from the another node;
• performing measurements on the received reference signals according to the configuration;
• evaluating, based on the measurements, an indication of a predicted signal quality metric in relation to at least one of:
• the another node or further node based upon conditional use of at least one timing advance loop;
• and
• transmitting, information relating to the evaluated indication of a predicted signal quality metric in relation to the at least one of the another node or the further node.
