Method and apparatus for beam failure recovery in wireless communication system

A user equipment (UE) comprising:

• one or more transceivers;
• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more memories connected to the one or more processors and storing instructions,
• wherein the instructions configure the one or more processors to perform, based on being executed by the one or more processors, operations comprising:
• determining a plurality of Beam Failure Detection (BFD)-Reference Signal (RS) sets;
• and
• determining a beam failure based on each of the plurality of BFD-RS sets,
• wherein each BFD-RS set includes RS indexes based on Control REsource SETs (CORESETs) related to one of a plurality of CORESET pool indexes, and
• wherein the RS indexes are determined based on at least one of i) a unified Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state related to the CORESETs from among a plurality of unified TCI states, ii) a TCI state related to a specific CORESET from among the CORESETs, and/or iii) an RS mapped to a BFD-RS set ID.

A base station comprising:

• one or more transceivers;
• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more memories connected to the one or more processors and storing instructions,
• wherein the instructions configure the one or more processors to perform, based on being executed by the one or more processors, operations comprising:
• receiving a Physical Uplink Control CHannel (PUCCH) related to detection of a beam failure,
• wherein the beam failure is detected based on each of a plurality of Beam Failure Detection (BFD)-Reference Signal (RS) sets,
• wherein each BFD-RS set includes RS indexes based on Control REsource SETs (CORESETs) related to one of a plurality of CORESET pool indexes, and
• wherein the RS indexes are determined based on at least one of i) a unified Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state related to the CORESETs from among a plurality of unified TCI states, ii) a TCI state related to a specific CORESET from among the CORESETs, and/or iii) an RS mapped to a BFD-RS set ID.
