An energy storage apparatus and an energy storage system. The energy storage apparatus includes a box, a functional component, and a battery. The box includes a battery compartment and a functional compartment, where at least a portion of the functional compartment is located above the battery compartment along a gravitational direction; the battery is accommodated in the battery compartment; and the functional component is accommodated in the functional compartment and is at least partially located above the battery.

An energy storage apparatus, comprising:
- a box, comprising a battery compartment and a functional compartment, wherein at least a portion of the functional compartment is located above the battery compartment along a gravitational direction;
- a battery, accommodated in the battery compartment;
- and
- a functional component, wherein the functional component is accommodated in the functional compartment and at least partially located above the battery.
