Lithium and manganese rich battery electrolytes

A battery cell for a vehicle, comprising:

• a cathode electrode including a cathode disposed on a cathode current collector;
• an anode electrode including an anode disposed on an anode current collector;
• a separator positioned between the cathode and the anode;
• and
• an electrolyte contacting the cathode, anode, and separator, wherein the electrolyte includes:
• a base electrolyte, wherein the base electrolyte includes a primary lithium salt, a carbonate solvent, and an organic sulfate additive;
• lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) present in an amount in the range of 0.1 percent by weight to 1 percent by weight of the total weight of the electrolyte;
• a phosphite ester oxygen scavenger present in the range of 0.01 weight percent to 1.5 weight percent of the total weight of the electrolyte;
• and
• fluoroethylene carbonate present in the range of 0.5 percent by weight to 2.0 percent by weight of the total weight of the electrolyte,
• wherein the base electrolyte is the remaining weight percent of the total weight percent of the electrolyte, and the total weight percent of the electrolyte is 100 percent by weight.
