Managing medical image storage in a storage system based on service-level agreements (SLAs), including: detecting, in a storage system, storage of a Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) dataset; identifying a medical imaging type for the DICOM dataset; and applying a storage policy to the DICOM dataset based on a service-level agreement (SLA) for the medical imaging type.

A method, comprising:
- detecting, in a storage system, storage of a Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) dataset;
- identifying a medical imaging type for the DICOM dataset;
- and
- applying a storage policy to the DICOM dataset based on a service-level agreement (SLA) for the medical imaging type.

- detect, in a storage system, storage of a Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) dataset;
