Abstract
According to examples, a processor may identify locations on a digital 3D model of an object corresponding to positions at which features are to be added to the object. For each of a plurality of locations of the identified locations, the processor may identify displacements of each of a plurality of patch points around the location from the surface of the digital 3D model. The processor may also create a map of the digital 3D model that encodes the identified displacements of the patch points around the locations, in which a 3D fabrication system is to fabricate the object to include the plurality of features based on the digital 3D model and the created map.
Claims17
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform processing comprising:
- identifying locations on a digital three-dimensional (3D) model of a screen corresponding to positions at which pores having a predefined diameter are to be formed in the screen;
- for each of the identified locations on the digital 3D model:
- computing a boundary having the predefined diameter around the location;
- sampling patch points inside of the computed boundary on a surface of the digital 3D model;
- identifying depths of the sampled patch points, from the surface of the digital 3D model toward an opposite surface of the digital 3D model;
- and
- creating a map of the digital 3D model encoding the identified depths of the sampled patch points for the identified locations,
- wherein a 3D fabrication system is to fabricate the screen to include the pores based on the digital 3D model and the created map.
A method comprising:
- identifying, by a processor, locations on a digital three-dimensional (3D) triangle mesh model of an object corresponding to positions at which features are to be added to the object;
- for each of the identified locations on the digital 3D triangle mesh model:
- computing, by the processor, a boundary to intersect multiple triangles in the digital 3D triangle mesh model and to have a predefined dimension around the location;
- sampling, by the processor, patch points inside of the computed boundary on a surface of the digital 3D triangle mesh model;
- identifying, by the processor, displacements of the sampled patch points, from the surface of the digital 3D triangle mesh model, such that the displacements extend in a common direction with respect to each other regardless of different angles between the multiple triangles that the boundary is computed to intersect;
- and
- creating, by the processor, a map of the digital 3D triangle mesh model encoding the identified displacements of the sampled patch points for the identified locations,
- wherein a 3D fabrication system is to fabricate the object to include the features based on the digital 3D triangle mesh model and the created map.
A system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform processing comprising:
- identifying locations on a digital three-dimensional (3D) triangle mesh model of an object corresponding to positions at which features are to be added to the object;
- for each of the identified locations on the digital 3D triangle mesh model, identifying displacements of each of a plurality of patch points around the location from a surface of the digital 3D triangle mesh model;
- projecting the digital 3D triangle mesh model into a two-dimensional (2D) unit space to cause triangles in the digital 3D triangle mesh model to be mapped into congruent 2D triangles;
- and
- creating a map of the digital 3D triangle mesh model encoding the identified displacements of the patch points for the identified locations, based on the digital 3D triangle mesh model as has been projected into the 2D unit space,
- wherein a 3D fabrication system is to fabricate the object to include the features based on the digital 3D triangle mesh model and the created map.
