Systems and methods for using conjunctions in a voice input to cause a search application to wait for additional inputs

A method for searching for media content, the method comprising:

• receiving, at a media device, an input from a user;
• receiving, at the media device, an indication related to a first entity displayed on a display associated with the media device;
• capturing, using audio input circuitry of the media device, audio from an audio source;
• identifying a second entity based on the captured audio;
• constructing a search query based on the input, the first entity, and the second entity;
• transmitting the search query to a database;
• receiving, based on the search query, at least one identifier of at least one content item;
• and
• generating for display, on the media device, the at least one identifier.

A system for searching for media content, the system comprising:

• input/output (I/O) circuitry configured to receive an input from a user;
• audio input circuitry;
• and
• control circuitry configured to:
• receive, via the I/O circuitry, an indication related to a first entity displayed on a display associated with the system;
• capture, using the audio input circuitry, audio from an audio source;
• identify a second entity based on the captured audio;
• and
• construct a search query based on the input, the first entity, and the second entity;
• wherein the I/O circuitry is further configured to:
• transmit the search query to a database;
• and
• based on the search query, receive at least one identifier of at least one content item;
• and
• wherein the control circuitry is further configured to generate for display the at least one identifier.
