Fingerprint-based data replication across storage systems

An apparatus, comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the apparatus to:
• obtain a first fingerprint file associated with a source file on a source cluster, the first fingerprint file comprising one or more first fingerprints that represent first data blocks of the source file, each fingerprint of the one or more first fingerprints comprising a hash of a range of values in a first index file, values in the range of values in the first index file comprising respective hashes of respective values in a patch file associated with the source file;
• generate, by a data management system and based at least in part on a comparison of the one or more first fingerprints of the first fingerprint file with one or more second fingerprints of a second fingerprint file that represent second data blocks of a base file stored in a target cluster, a replication profile that indicates one or more first data blocks from among the first data blocks of the source file that are different from any of the second data blocks of the base file;
• and
• generate one or more jobs configured to copy, based at least in part on a replication operation, the one or more first data blocks from the source cluster to the target cluster in accordance with the replication profile.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing code, the code comprising instructions executable by one or more processors to:

• obtain a first fingerprint file associated with a source file on a source cluster, the first fingerprint file comprising one or more first fingerprints that represent first data blocks of the source file, each fingerprint of the one or more first fingerprints comprising a hash of a range of values in a first index file, values in the range of values in the first index file comprising respective hashes of respective values in a patch file associated with the source file;
• generate, by a data management system and based at least in part on a comparison of the one or more first fingerprints of the first fingerprint file with one or more second fingerprints of a second fingerprint file that represent second data blocks of a base file stored in a target cluster, a replication profile that indicates one or more first data blocks from among the first data blocks of the source file that are different from any of the second data blocks of the base file;
• and
• generate one or more jobs configured to copy, based at least in part on a replication operation, the one or more first data blocks from the source cluster to the target cluster in accordance with the replication profile.
