Abstract
A facility for automated modelling of the cutting process for a particular material to be cut by a beam cutting tool, such as a waterjet cutting system, from empirical data to predict aspects of the waterjet's effect on the workpiece across a range of material thicknesses, across a range of cutting geometries, and across a range of cutting quality levels, all of which may be broader than, and independent of the actual requirements for a target workpiece, is described.

1-27. (canceled)
A method in a computing system for performing a liquid jet cutting project, the method comprising:
- applying a first cutting model to a routed geometry for a cutting project to generate first machine commands that, when executed by a liquid jet cutting system, cause the liquid jet cutting system to perform a first portion of the cutting project;
- causing the liquid jet cutting system to execute the first machine commands to initiate performance of the first portion of the cutting project;
- obtaining cutting data associated with the performance of the first portion of the cutting project by the liquid jet cutting system;
- obtaining a second cutting model based at least partially on the cutting data;
- applying the second cutting model to the routed geometry to generate second machine commands that, when executed by the liquid jet cutting system, cause the liquid jet cutting system to perform a second portion of the cutting project;
- and
- causing the liquid jet cutting system to execute the second machine commands to initiate performance of the second portion of the cutting project.
A system for performing a liquid jet cutting project, the system comprising:
- a liquid jet cutting machine;
- and
- one or more processors operably associated with the liquid jet cutting machine and configured to—
- apply a first cutting model to a routed geometry for a cutting project to generate first machine commands that, when executed by the liquid jet cutting machine, cause the liquid jet cutting machine to perform a first portion of the cutting project;
- cause the liquid jet cutting machine to execute the first machine commands to initiate performance of the first portion of the cutting project;
- obtain cutting data associated with the performance of the first portion of the cutting project by the liquid jet cutting machine;
- obtain a second cutting model based at least partially on the cutting data;
- apply the second cutting model to the routed geometry to generate second machine commands that, when executed by the liquid jet cutting machine, cause the liquid jet cutting machine to perform a second portion of the cutting project;
- and
- cause the liquid jet cutting machine to execute the second machine commands to initiate performance of the second portion of the cutting project.
One or more non-transitory, computer-readable media carrying instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a computing system for performing a liquid jet cutting project, cause the computing system to perform operations comprising:
- applying a first cutting model to a routed geometry for a cutting project to generate first machine commands that, when executed by a liquid jet cutting system, cause the liquid jet cutting system to perform a first portion of the cutting project;
- causing the liquid jet cutting system to execute the first machine commands to initiate performance of the first portion of the cutting project;
- obtaining cutting data associated with the performance of the first portion of the cutting project by the liquid jet cutting system;
- obtaining a second cutting model based at least partially on the cutting data;
- applying the second cutting model to the routed geometry to generate second machine commands that, when executed by the liquid jet cutting system, cause the liquid jet cutting system to perform a second portion of the cutting project;
- and
- causing the liquid jet cutting system to execute the second machine commands to initiate performance of the second portion of the cutting project.
