Abstract
A perturbation assembly includes an optical fiber having a first end and a second end, a first support, where the first end of the optical fiber is secured to the first support, a first electromagnetic coil disposed adjacent to the optical fiber, a controller, and a first communication link connecting the first electromagnetic coil to the controller. In response to receipt of a control signal from the controller, the first electromagnetic coil vibrates the optical fiber at a frequency within a range of 100 Hz to 50 kHz.
Claims15
A perturbation assembly, comprising:
- an optical fiber having a first end and a second end;
- a first support, wherein the first end of the optical fiber is secured to the first support;
- a first electromagnetic coil disposed adjacent to the optical fiber;
- a controller;
- and
- a first communication link connecting the first electromagnetic coil to the controller,
- wherein, in response to receipt of a control signal from the controller, the first electromagnetic coil vibrates the optical fiber at a frequency within a range of 100 Hz to 50 kHz.
