Abstract

An apparatus for estimating a state of health (SOH) of a battery can include a profile obtaining unit configured to obtain an open circuit voltage (OCV) profile for a plurality of open circuit voltages (OCVs) of the battery measured at different time points; a profile correcting unit configured to generate an adjusted positive electrode profile and an adjusted negative electrode profile by adjusting a preset reference positive electrode profile and a preset reference negative electrode profile to correspond to the OCV profile; and a control unit configured to extract a diagnosis factor comprising at least one of a diagnosis factor related to the positive electrode participation finalizing point for the battery from the adjusted positive electrode profile and a diagnosis factor related to the positive electrode change rate for the battery from the reference positive electrode profile and the adjusted positive electrode profile, and estimate a positive electrode SOH of the battery based on the extracted diagnosis factor.
