System and Method for Label Selection

A system for generating a panel of fluorescent labels for use in a flow cytometry experiment that assays a plurality of cell populations with a plurality of markers wherein each of the cell populations has a subset of the plurality of markers, the system comprising:

• memory operably coupled to a processor wherein the memory comprises instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• produce assignments of labels for at least some of the markers;
• perform an evaluation of one or more of the assignments of labels to at least some of the plurality of markers based at least in part on one or more of:
• label brightness,
• marker density,
• fluorescence spillover,
• a condition number of one or more spillover matrices for at least one assignment of labels to at least some of the markers;
• and
• an orthogonality of the one or more spillover matrices.

A system for generating a panel of fluorescent labels for use in a flow cytometry experiment that assays a cell population with a plurality of markers, the system comprising:

• memory operably coupled to a processor wherein the memory comprises instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• produce assignments of labels for at least some of the markers;
• perform an evaluation of one or more of the assignments of labels to at least some of the plurality of markers based at least in part on one or more of:
• label brightness,
• marker density,
• fluorescence spillover,
• a condition number of one or more spillover matrices for at least one assignment of labels to at least some of the markers;
• and
• an orthogonality of the one or more spillover matrices.
