Hvac condensate drain pan overflow detection system

An air conditioner drain pan overflow detection system comprising:

• a plug that is configured to (i) be inserted into an outlet opening of an air conditioner condensate drain pan, and (ii) form a water-tight seal with the outlet opening once inserted into the outlet opening;
• a liquid detector disposed on an outer surface of a portion of the plug that is located inside of the air conditioner condensate drain pan when the plug has been inserted into the outlet opening of the air conditioner condensate drain pan;
• and
• a control circuit that is electrically coupled to the liquid detector, the control circuit being configured to shut off an air conditioner unit that releases condensate to the air conditioner condensate drain pan based on a signal output from the liquid detector when the liquid detector detects liquid in contact with the liquid detector on the plug in the air conditioner condensate drain pan.
