Systems and methods involving a container transfer station between a storage structure and workstation operator

Abstract

In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to the transfer of containers. In some embodiments, a system may include a storage structure including a plurality of pathways for movement of a plurality of mobile robots carrying containers, an operator handling area including an operator workstation at which items are transferred to and/or from containers by an operator, and a container transfer station intermediate the storage structure and the operator handling area, the container transfer station comprising: a mobile robot access side allowing deposit of containers from mobile robots in the storage structure, an operator handling area side receiving deposited containers, at least one rail supporting the deposited containers at the container transfer station; and a container transferer including a motor and cooperating with the at least one rail to move the deposited containers from the mobile robot access side to the operator handling area.
