A computer system comprising processing circuitry to control a transmission of a vehicle, wherein the transmission comprises an output shaft and a set of input shafts comprising at least a first input shaft, the transmission being adapted to assume a plurality of transmission configurations, each transmission configuration resulting in a predetermined gear ratio between each input shaft in the set of input shafts and the output shaft, the transmission configurations being different from each other, and wherein the vehicle comprises a regenerative braking system adapted to convert at least a portion of the vehicle's kinetic energy into electric energy to be fed to an energy storage system of the vehicle during a braking event, the regenerative braking system being drivingly connected to at least one, preferably each, input shaft in the set of input shafts, and wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to:
- obtain braking information indicating a required vehicle braking torque for a braking event;
- in response to determining that the braking torque deliverable from the regenerative braking system with a currently assumed transmission configuration equals or exceeds the required vehicle braking torque, determine that the currently assumed transmission configuration should be maintained during the braking event and preferably issue information to the transmission to maintain the currently assumed transmission configuration.
