A wearable breathing system and method for airflow modulation and respiratory regulation are disclosed. The system comprises a wearable breathing system configured to be worn on a user's head or face, including a wearable support structure and a user-operable mode selection interface for selecting among a plurality of breathing exercise modes. Airflow actuation components provide mechanical, selective nasal airflow control in accordance with a selected mode, without requiring manual nostril occlusion by the user. The system supports asymmetric and ramp-controlled airflow modulation, enabling independent left and right nostril control and gradual application or release of airflow restriction. A hardware-implemented safety supervisor module enforces predefined physiological and mechanical safety limits independently of user commands, mobile applications, or cloud software. The system may further include redundant respiration sensing, fault detection with automatic reversion to a fully open airflow state, and calibration features for personalized operation.
