Abstract
The present invention provides fusion proteins of gE and gI (or variants thereof) that can be used for preventing or treating varicella-zoster virus infection, and use of such fusion proteins (or variants thereof).

A fusion protein, comprising a first peptide segment and a second peptide segment, wherein the first peptide segment comprises or is composed of an extracellular region of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) gE protein or a fragment thereof;
- and the second peptide segment comprises or is composed of an extracellular domain of VZV gI protein or a fragment thereof.
