Abstract
The subject invention provides compositions and methods for inhibiting viral infections. Preferred embodiments of the invention provide pharmaceutical compositions, and the methods of using the same, comprising a strain of Lactobacillus fermentum bacterium, or bioactive extracts thereof.
Claims11
A self-decontaminating surface having antiviral properties wherein said surface comprises:
- A) a protein that comprises an amino acid sequence selected from:
- i) SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- ii) a variant of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- iii) a fragment of i) or ii)
- wherein said variant or fragment has virus-inhibiting activity;
- or
- a composition comprising an isolated bioactive Lactobacillus fermentum bacterial strain grown as biofilm, and/or comprising a viral inhibiting extract of said biofilm;
- and/or
- B) a composition comprising an isolated bioactive Lactobacillus fermentum bacterial strain grown as biofilm, and/or comprising a viral inhibiting extract of said biofilm.
