Abstract
A pillow is provided herein which includes a cover having opposing first and second panels. A gusset perimetrically bounds, and joins, the first and second panels. The gusset is formed of an open cell construction. Compliant fill material is disposed within the cover. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pillow is provided allowing for lateral ventilation between opposing panels. This pem1its a cooling effect while a user is resting or sleeping.

A method of manufacturing a pillow, comprising:
- providing a first panel;
- providing a second panel opposite the first panel;
- providing a gusset comprising an open cell construction, the open cell construction including a plurality of ports that provide porosities greater than porosity of the first panel and the second panel;
- joining the gusset to the first and second panels, the first panel, the second panel, and the gusset defining a cover having an inner surface that defines a chamber;
- and
- disposing a compliant fill material within the chamber such that the pillow is free of springs therein,
- wherein the open cell construction of the gusset permits ventilation between the first and second panels.
