Abstract
Biocide and biopesticide compositions are provided. The compositions include mixtures of essential oils and carriers, the combined effect of which provides repelling and/or killing effects against arthropod pests and internal parasites. Methods of controlling and treating for arthropod pests and internal parasites using the disclosed compositions are also provided.

An emulsion comprising:
- a) 0.2 to 10 wt % of geraniol;
- b) 0.05 to 10 wt % total of one or more essential oils selected from the group consisting of rosemary oil, cornmint oil, eugenol, clove oil, cinnamon oil, spearmint oil, cedarwood oil, peppermint oil, citronella oil, lemongrass oil, and thyme oil;
- c) 1 to 25 wt % total of a mixture of sodium lauryl sulfate and one or more soaps selected from the group consisting of sodium or potassium salts of one or more of caprylic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, arachidic acid, caproleic acid, lauroleic acid, myristoleic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, gadoleic acid, linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, dihomo-γ-linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, and mixtures thereof;
- d) 1 to 10 wt % of an organic solvent selected from ethyl lactate and isopropanol;
- and
- e) water in an amount sufficient to constitute 100% by weight.
An emulsion comprising:
- a) 0.2 to 10 wt % of geraniol;
- c) 0.05 to 5 wt % total of one or more essential oils selected from the group consisting of rosemary oil, cornmint oil, eugenol, clove oil, cinnamon oil, spearmint oil, cedarwood oil, citronella oil, peppermint oil, lemongrass oil, and thyme oil;
- c) 1 to 25 wt % of one or more soaps selected from the group consisting of sodium or potassium salts of one or more of caprylic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, arachidic acid, caproleic acid, lauroleic acid, myristoleic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, gadoleic acid, linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, dihomo-γ-linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, and eicosapentaenoic acid;
- d) 5 to 15 wt % of one or more organic solvent selected from ethyl lactate, glycerin, and isopropanol;
- and
- e) water in an amount sufficient to constitute 100% by weight;
- wherein the emulsion is effective at killing pests, and
- wherein the emulsion is stable with respect to visual phase separation.
The emulsion of claim 17, wherein the one or more essential oils are 0.5 to 3 wt % rosemary oil and 0.25 to 3 wt % cornmint oil.
The emulsion of claim 17, wherein the one or more essential oils is 0.1 to 1% cornmint oil.
An emulsion comprising:
- a) 0.5 to 5 wt % geraniol;
- b) 1 to 25 wt % of one or more soaps selected from the group consisting of sodium or potassium salts of caprylic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, arachidic acid, caproleic acid, lauroleic acid, myristoleic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, gadoleic acid, linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid, dihomo-γ-linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, and eicosapentaenoic acid;
