Abstract

Air seed meters are traditionally used to meter seed, such as corn and soybeans, while seeders or seed drills are used for smaller cereal seeds. The same air seed meter can be used for cereal seeds as well, however, with minimal adjustments. A replacement seed disk can be used that includes paddles or the like. The seed meter is operated in a different manner, such as in an opposite direction from the air seed meter operation, to allow the same meter to be used with the replacement disk to allow the meter to be used as a volumetric metering system. This will allow for quick and easy changes to a meter to plant different seed types and by changing the operation of the meter.
