In an embodiment a system includes at least one product carrier and at least one data medium, wherein a plurality of electronic components are arranged on the product carrier, wherein each of the electronic components has a unique position on the product carrier, wherein each of the electronic components is removable from the product carrier by a user manually or by a machine, wherein the product carrier has a unique identifier, wherein an individually assigned characteristic data record is stored on the data medium for each of the electronic components, and wherein the individually assigned characteristic data record stored on the data medium is obtainable for each of the electronic components with the unique identifier of the product carrier and the unique position on the product carrier.
