Abstract
An electronic device may include a printed circuit board (PCB) on which electronics are disposed. A PCB shield may be disposed on the PCB. The mobile device may also include an electronic display on which visuals are displayed for a user to view. The electronic display may include a back plate and an antenna may be defined by the back plate. At least one contact may be electrically connected to a portion of the back plate defining the antenna. A screen may be disposed on an opposite side relative to the back plate such that an antenna pattern radiated by the antenna extends through the screen.
Claims20
An electronic device, comprising:
- a printed circuit board (PCB) on which electronics are disposed;
- and
- an electronic display on which visual content is displayed for a user to view, the electronic display comprising:
- a back plate;
- an antenna defined by the back plate;
- at least one contact electrically connected to a portion of the back plate defining the antenna;
- and
- a screen disposed on an opposite side relative to the back plate defining the antenna such that an antenna radiation pattern radiated by the antenna extends through the screen.
A method of communicating with a payment device with a near field communication (NFC) component from an electronic device, comprising:
- communicating a first signal to an antenna defined in a back plate of an electronic display of the electronic device;
- transmitting the first signal from the antenna through a screen of the electronic device;
- and
- in response to the payment device with a component being positioned at the screen, receiving a second signal through the screen of the electronic device by the antenna.
An electronic display, comprising:
- a back plate;
- an antenna defined by the back plate;
- at least one contact electrically connected to portion of the back plate defining the antenna;
- and
- a screen disposed on an opposite side relative to the back plate defining the antenna such that an antenna radiation pattern radiated by the antenna extends through the screen.
