Abstract
An optical amplifier has a first optical fiber section configured to receive a light as an input, a fiber beam splitter connected to the first optical fiber section, a second optical fiber section, and a third optical fiber section connected to the fiber beam splitter. An amplification section is optically coupled to a second end of the second optical fiber section and is configured to receive and amplify the light to thereby produce amplified light, and to transmit the amplified light towards the second end of the second optical fiber section. The second optical fiber section is configured to receive via its second end the amplified light and direct it towards the fiber beam splitter.

An optical amplifier comprising:
- a first optical fiber section configured to receive a light as an input;
- a fiber beam splitter comprising a first port via which the fiber beam splitter is connected to the first optical fiber section and is configured to receive from the latter the light;
- a second optical fiber section comprising a first end via which the second optical fiber section is connected to a second port of the fiber beam splitter and is configured to receive from the second port of the fiber beam splitter the light and transmit the light via a second end of the second optical fiber section;
- an amplification section comprising a laser diode which is optically coupled to the second end of the second optical fiber section and is configured to receive and amplify the light, thereby producing amplified light, and to transmit the amplified light towards the second end of the second optical fiber section;
- the second optical fiber section being further configured to receive via its second end the amplified light and direct it towards the fiber beam splitter which is configured to output at least part of the amplified light via a third port of the fiber beam splitter;
- and
- a third optical fiber section connected to the third port of the fiber beam splitter.
