Gas management systems for a molten salt nuclear reactor

A system comprising

• a fuel salt system configured to circulate a molten salt through a reactor vessel;
• and
• an inert gas system fluidically coupled with the fuel salt system and configured to periodically release an inert gas of a headspace of the reactor vessel,
• wherein the inert gas system comprises a pair of in-series inert gas vessels, and
• wherein the pair of in-series inert gas vessels comprises
• an inert gas inlet configured to receive a flow of inert gas from the headspace, and
• an inert gas outlet configured to output the flow of inert gas as an off-gas stream to another process.

A system of comprising

• a fuel salt system configured to circulate a molten salt through a reaction volume of the reactor vessel and periodically flow said molten salt into a drain tank volume of a drain tank that is fluidically coupled with the reaction volume;
• an inert gas system fluidically coupled with the fuel salt system and configured to periodically release an inert gas of a headspace of the reactor vessel into a pair of in-series inert gas vessels;
• and
• an equalization system configured to equalize pressure between the reaction volume and the drain tank volume.

A system of comprising

• a reactor vessel and a fluidically coupled drain tank, each defining a portion of a molten salt system configured for circulation of a molten salt therethrough;
• a first operating valve operable to control an inert gas flow from a headspace of the reactor vessel;
• a pair of in-series inert gas vessels fluidically coupled with the headspace of the reactor vessel via the first operating valve and operable to channel a periodic release of an inert gas from the headspace;
• and
• an off-gas outlet flow channeled from the pair of in-series inert gas vessels and periodically openable to another process.
