Multi-level image classifier for blood cell images

Abstract

Disclosed herein are various embodiments related to a blood cell classification system, which may include a plurality of general classifiers and specialized classifiers. The system being configured to determine, using the plurality of general classifiers, a predicted cell label for an imaged blood cell. The plurality of predicted cell labels are then provided to a decision aggregator which determines whether the predicted cell labels fulfil one or more compatibility criteria. Responsive to determining that the predicted cell label fulfils the one or more compatibility criteria the decision aggregator assigns the consolidated cell label based on one or more of the predicted cell labels provided by the plurality of classifiers Alternatively, responsive to determining that the predicted cell label does not fulfill the one or more compatibility criteria the decision aggregator provides the cell labels to a specialized classifier configured to assign the consolidated cell label.
