Assessing protection for storage resources, including: identifying a set of active data protection features for one or more storage resources; generating a data protection assessment based on the set of active data protection features; and reporting the data protection assessment.

A method comprising:
- classifying, by a processing device, storage resources of a storage system based on a set of third-party active data protection features of a third-party provider, wherein the storage system accesses the third-party provider via a plug-in;
- and
- transmitting information for presenting a data protection assessment for the storage system that indicates the set of third-party active data protection features of the third-party provider and a classification for the storage resources, wherein the set of third-party active data protection features comprises a snapshot policy.
An apparatus comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing device, operatively coupled to the memory, configured to:
- classify storage resources of a storage system based on a set of third-party active data protection features of a third-party provider, wherein the storage system accesses the third-party provider via a plug-in;
- and
- transmit information for presenting a data protection assessment for the storage system that indicates the set of third-party active data protection features of the third-party provider and a classification for the storage resources, wherein the set of third-party active data protection features comprises a snapshot policy.
