Storing a Plurality of Metadata Storage Tress via a Vast Storage System

A processing system of a storage system comprises:

• at least one processor;
• a memory that stores operational instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the processing system to:
• store a plurality of metadata for a plurality of data elements via a plurality of metadata storage trees, wherein the plurality of metadata storage trees are stored via a first plurality of memory devices of a first memory type, and wherein a first data element of the plurality of data elements has first corresponding metadata included in a first metadata storage tree of the plurality of metadata storage trees;
• store the plurality of data elements via a second plurality of memory devices of a second memory type;
• receive an access request corresponding to the first data element;
• and
• access the first data element via locating the first data element in the second plurality of memory devices based on accessing the first corresponding metadata in the first metadata storage tree.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprises:

• at least one memory section that stores operational instructions that, when executed by a processing system that includes a processor and a memory, causes the processing system to:
• store a plurality of metadata for a plurality of data elements via a plurality of metadata storage trees, wherein the plurality of metadata storage trees are stored via a first plurality of memory devices of a first memory type, and wherein a first data element of the plurality of data elements has first corresponding metadata included in a first metadata storage tree of the plurality of metadata storage trees;
• store the plurality of data elements via a second plurality of memory devices of a second memory type;
• receive an access request corresponding to the first data element;
• and
• access the first data element via locating the first data element in the second plurality of memory devices based on accessing the first corresponding metadata in the first metadata storage tree.
