A target sight for mounting to a pistol slide of a pistol, the target sight comprising:
- memory configured to store a fired round count total;
- one or more accelerometers configured to detect movement of the pistol slide to which the target sight is mounted;
- and
- a controller configured to
- detect that a round of ammunition has been fired from the pistol based on input from the one or more accelerometers, and
- in response to detecting that the round of ammunition has been fired from the pistol, increase the fired round count total in the memory by one to a new fired round count total.

A target sight system, comprising:
- a target sight for mounting to a slide of a pistol, the target sight having
- one or more accelerometers structured to convert an impulse force of pistol slide movement caused by firing a round of ammunition from the pistol to an impulse signal, and
- one or more counters disposed within the target sight, the one or more counters configured to increase a count in each of the one or more counters by one based on a signal generated by the one or more accelerometers;
- and
- a display for showing the count of one or more of the counters to a user of the target sight.
