Abstract
A heat exchanger for a cooking system is provided. The heat exchanger includes a central axis, an inlet module, and a heat exchanger module removably coupled to and adjacent the inlet module along the central axis. A fluid duct is provided that extends through the inlet module and the heat exchanger module along the central axis. The inlet module includes a plurality of headers positioned about an outer perimeter of the inlet module, a plurality of tubes extending radially across the fluid duct between the plurality of headers, and a plurality of caps coupled to the plurality of headers, wherein each cap is configured to be removed from a corresponding one of the plurality of headers to expose one of the plurality of tubes through the corresponding one of the plurality of headers.
Claims31
A heat exchanger for a cooking system, comprising:
- a fluid duct extending through the heat exchanger;
- a first header;
- a second header, wherein the first header and the second header are disposed on a same side of the heat exchanger;
- and
- a plurality of U-tubes configured to fluidly couple the first header and the second header, wherein each of the plurality of U-tubes extends into the fluid duct.
A heat exchanger for a cooking system, comprising:
- a fluid duct extending through the heat exchanger;
- a plurality of first headers;
- a plurality of second headers, wherein each of the plurality of first headers is disposed on a same side of the heat exchanger as one of the plurality of second headers;
- and
- for each side having a first and second header, a plurality of U-tubes configured to fluidly couple the first header and the second header for the corresponding side, wherein each of the plurality of U-tubes extends into the fluid duct.
A module for a heat exchanger, comprising:
- a fluid duct extending axially through the module;
- a plurality of sides;
- a plurality of first headers;
- a plurality of second headers, wherein each of the plurality of second headers is disposed on a same side of the module as one of the plurality of first headers;
- and
- for each of the plurality of sides having one of the plurality of first headers and one of the plurality of second headers, a plurality of U-tubes each configured to fluidly couple the corresponding first and second headers, wherein:
- each of the plurality of U-tubes extends into the fluid duct, and
- for each of the plurality of sides, the corresponding first and second headers are axially adjacent.
A heat exchanger comprising a fluid duct and at least two modules, wherein:
- the fluid duct extends axially through the at least two modules;
- and
- a first of the at least two modules comprises:
- a plurality of sides;
- a plurality of first headers;
- a plurality of second headers, wherein each of the plurality of second headers is disposed on a same side of the module as one of the plurality of first headers;
- and
- for each of the plurality of sides having one of the plurality of first headers and one of the plurality of second headers, a plurality of U-tubes each configured to fluidly couple the corresponding first and second headers, wherein:
- each of the plurality of U-tubes extends into the fluid duct, and
- for each of the plurality of sides having one of the plurality of first headers and one of the plurality of second headers, the corresponding first and second headers are axially adjacent.
A cooking system comprising:
- a cooking vessel configured to receive a cooking fluid and a food item to perform a cooking reaction;
- and
- a heat exchanger comprising:
- a fluid duct extending through the heat exchanger;
- a first header;
- a second header, wherein the first header and the second header are disposed on a same side of the heat exchanger;
- and
- a plurality of U-tubes configured to fluidly couple the first header and the second header, wherein each of the plurality of U-tubes extends into the fluid duct,
- wherein the heat exchanger is configured with:
- cooking fluid flowing through the first header, the second header, and the plurality of U-tubes;
- and
- combustion fluid from one or more burner flowing through the fluid duct;
- and heat exchange between the fluid duct and the U-tubes, and
- wherein the U-tubes are in fluid communication with the cooking vessel.
