Apparatus for drying a printed material web

Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus (8) for drying a printed material web (6). The apparatus comprises at least two drying units (22), wherein each drying unit (22) has a radiator device (26) which is arranged under a conveying region (16) and has a number of infrared radiators (36) and has a radiator ventilator (38) for supplying air (A) to the infrared radiator (36) and into the conveying region (16); a radiator suction apparatus (28) which is arranged downstream of the radiator device (26) in the drying unit longitudinal direction (L) for the air (A) supplied by the radiator ventilator (38) into the conveying region (16); and a first air knife (30) which is arranged upstream of the radiator device (26) in the drying unit longitudinal direction (L) for generating an air jet (K) for detaching a laminar boundary layer on the material web (6). Between the drying units (22), an intermediate suction apparatus (42) is arranged in each case to suction off evaporated solvent.
