Abstract
A sliding member includes a cylindrical metal substrate, a seamless porous layer formed on the inner peripheral surface of the metal substrate, and a sliding layer covering the porous layer, wherein the porous layer is formed of a metal simple substance or an alloy composition, and the sliding layer is formed of a resin composition.

A sliding member, comprising:
- a cylindrical metal substrate;
- a seamless porous layer formed on an inner peripheral surface of the metal substrate;
- and
- a sliding layer covering the porous layer,
- wherein the porous layer is formed of a metal simple substance or an alloy composition, and
- the sliding layer is formed of a resin composition.

A method for manufacturing a sliding member having a seamless sliding surface, comprising:
- a step of disposing a columnar or cylindrical jig inside a cylindrical metal substrate, and packing raw material powder of a porous layer into a space between an inner peripheral surface of the metal substrate and an outer peripheral surface of the jig;
- a step of sintering the raw material powder to form a seamless porous layer comprising a metal simple substance or an alloy composition on the inner peripheral surface of the metal substrate;
- and
- a step of impregnating the surface of the porous layer with a raw material resin of a sliding layer;
- and
- a step of firing the raw material resin to form a sliding layer comprising the resin composition and covering the porous layer.
