Abstract

A liquid transfer pump includes: a first housing defining a containment chamber; a second housing including a pump inlet and a pump outlet fluidly connecting by a pump chamber; an impeller assembly, including a centrifugal impeller and an axial flow impeller, at least partially disposed within the pump chamber, the impeller assembly including a hollow body portion, having a first end located adjacent to the pump inlet and a second end opposite the first end and located away from the pump inlet, the axial flow impeller being formed at the first end and the centrifugal impeller being formed at the second end of the hollow body portion; and a drive assembly, at least partially disposed within the containment chamber, configured to drive the impeller assembly. Adding the axial flow pump to the front of the centrifugal pump solves the airlock problem in the pump, improving its reliability.
