Abstract
A casing system includes a landing ring, a slip hanger, a casing head, and an adapter. The landing ring is coupled to a conductor pipe. The slip hanger comprises a slip element configured to engage with a first casing having a first outer diameter. The casing head is configured to engage with a second casing having a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter, and comprises a lower shoulder configured to engage with the landing ring and an upper shoulder configured to engage with the slip hanger. The adapter is connected to the casing head and comprises a groove configured to engage with a lock screw of a wellhead.
Claims21
A casing system, comprising:
- a landing ring defining an opening extending between a first end portion and a second end portion, wherein the first end portion comprises a lower shoulder configured to couple to a conductor pipe and the second end portion comprises an upper shoulder;
- a slip hanger configured to engage with a first casing having a first outer diameter, the slip hanger comprising:
- a slip element configured to engage with an outer diameter of the first casing;
- and
- a slip ring comprising an outer surface;
- a casing head configured to engage with a second casing having a second outer diameter larger than the first outer diameter, the casing head comprising:
- a lower shoulder configured to engage with the upper shoulder of the landing ring;
- and
- an upper shoulder configured to engage with the outer surface of the slip hanger;
- an adapter configured to connect to the casing head and comprising a groove configured to engage with a lock screw of a wellhead;
- and
- a rough casing seal.
A method for installing a casing system, the method comprising:
- coupling a landing ring to a conductor pipe;
- introducing a casing head comprising a lower shoulder that engages the landing ring;
- introducing a slip hanger comprising:
- a slip element;
- and
- a slip ring comprising an outer surface that engages an upper shoulder of the casing head;
- connecting to the casing head an adapter comprising a groove;
- engaging an outer surface of a first casing via the slip hanger by permitting a force of the first casing to energize the slip hanger;
- and
- introducing a wellhead assembly comprising a lock screw that engages with the groove of the adapter.
