Abstract

A carpet system is disclosed, comprising a common backing material with at least one first section having a first pile height, predefined dimensions, and configured to correspond to a support footprint of a furniture piece. The system includes at least one second section formed on the common backing material, having a second pile height substantially greater than the first pile height, and defining a surrounding region contiguous with the first section. The layout of the first and second sections is configured to visually and tactilely indicate predefined positions for furniture placement. The interface between sections may include transitions in pile height or boundary markings such as changes in color, texture, or pattern. In some embodiments, raised indicators provide additional tactile or visual guidance, facilitating precise furniture alignment. A carpet system comprising:

a common backing material;
a first section formed on the common backing material, the first section having a continuous first pile height, a first predefined length, and a first predefined width, the first section corresponding to a first support footprint of a first piece of furniture;
a second section formed on the common backing material, the second section having a second pile height that is substantially greater than and contiguous to the continuous first pile height;
a u-shaped region defined by the second section that substantially surrounds the first section;
and
a layout defined by the first section and the second section, the layout being configured to indicate a predefined position for placement of the first piece of furniture;
wherein the layout is visually and tactilely distinguishable on the carpet system to guide placement of the first piece of furniture on the first section.
