Washing machine and filter device for washing machine

A filter device for a washing machine, comprising:

• a first flow passage having a water inlet arranged at an uppermost stream to receive wash water introduced thereinto, the first flow passage guiding the wash water in a first direction;
• a second flow passage communicating with a downstream end of the first flow passage, the second flow passage guiding the wash water in a second direction opposite to the first direction;
• a lower chamber having a water outlet allowing the wash water to be discharged therethrough;
• a filter accommodated in the lower chamber;
• and
• an opening allowing the second flow passage and the lower chamber to communicate with each other,
• wherein the wash water introduced through the water inlet sequentially passes through the first flow passage, the second flow passage, the opening, and the filter, and is discharged through the water outlet.

A filter device for a washing machine, comprising:

• a case having a water inlet and a water outlet;
• a partition wall arranged in the case to divide an interior of the case into an upper chamber and a lower chamber;
• a partition section arranged to divide the upper chamber into a first flow passage and a second flow passage, wherein;
• the first flow passage guides the wash water introduced through the water inlet in a first direction;
• and
• the second flow passage communicates with a downstream end of the first flow passage and guides the wash water in a second direction opposite to the first direction;
• and
• an opening formed in the partition wall, the opening allowing the second flow passage and the lower chamber to communicate with each other,
• wherein the wash water introduced through the water inlet sequentially passes through the first flow passage, the second flow passage, the opening, and the filter, and is discharged through the water outlet.
