Disclosed herein are methods for the precision treatment of human subjects to lower blood pressure with interventions related to lowering sodium and/or raising potassium, comprising quantifying enrichment of common variation amongst genes involved with sodium and/or potassium biology. As described herein, the quantification of common variant enrichment amongst the genes biologically linked to sodium and/or potassium provides a means of summating an individual's exposure burden to genetics associated with blood pressure that is potentially treatable by an intervention that modulates sodium and/or potassium. In other words, the quantified burden of genetic risk amongst genes linked to sodium and/or potassium may inform individuals more sensitive to treatment by an intervention related to sodium and/or potassium to lower blood pressure.
A method for lowering blood pressure in a human subject comprising:
A computer-based genomic annotation system comprising non-transitory memory configured to store instructions and at least one processor coupled with the memory, the processor configured to:
The computer-based genomic annotation system of claim 8, further comprising a separate computational process to interrogate the genotype of an individual subject to identify individuals sensitive to sodium and/or potassium interventions to lower blood pressure:
