Abstract
According to one aspect, an asphalt blend can include: 70-99.5 wt. % an oxidized asphalt; 0.5-20 wt. % of an oxidized asphalt extender; and 0.5-15 wt. % asphalt flux. According to a second aspect, an asphalt blend can include an overoxidized asphalt and an asphalt flux. A fire resistant shingle can be prepared by coating a fiberglass mat with the aforementioned blend.
Claims20
A modified oxidized asphalt blend comprising:
- 70-99.5 wt. % an oxidized asphalt;
- 0.5-20 wt. % of an oxidized asphalt extender;
- and
- 0.5-15 wt. % asphalt flux.
An asphalt blend comprising overoxidized asphalt and asphalt flux.
An asphalt blend exhibiting a Heat absorption factor of at least 8750 J/g and no greater than 20000 J/g.
