Abstract
The invention concerns the use of a hydroxide having the formula XOH, wherein X is Na or K, in a bituminous composition including bitumen modified by a crosslinked elastomer which is a crosslinked vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and conjugated diene copolymer, having a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content representing less than 30% by weight of the weight of the crosslinked elastomer, for improving the effect of the crosslinked elastomer on the elastic properties of the bituminous composition.
Claims19
A method of using a hydroxide in a bituminous composition comprising a bitumen modified by a crosslinked elastomer, wherein the crosslinked elastomer is a crosslinked vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene copolymer;
- wherein the crosslinked elastomer comprises less than 30% by weight of the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon;
- wherein the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon improve the effect of the crosslinked elastomer on the elastic properties of the bituminous composition compared to a crosslinked elastomer not comprising vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon;
- and wherein the hydroxide is XOH, wherein X is Na or K.
