Described herein are peptide inhibitors of C. acnes hyaluronidase. Also described are method of using these peptide inhibitors to treat acne.

A peptide inhibitor of C. acnes hyaluronidase, the peptide comprises:

- wherein
- Xaa1 is Tyr, Phe, Trp, Pro, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa2 is Asp or Glu, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa3 is Asp or Glu, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa4 is Tyr, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa5 is Asp or Glu, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa6 is Ser or Thr, or an analog thereof,
- Xaa7 is Asp or Glu, or an analog thereof, and
- n is an integer from 1-5.
